Area Attractions
Black Warrior Bay is located in Hale County, in central Alabama, just one hour and fifteen minutes from Birmingham. The community is 20 miles to the Tombigbee waterway which provides boat access to the Gulf of Mexico. Our property is also conveniently situated 36 miles from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, 12 miles from the I-20/59 interstate, and just minutes from the quaint little town Eutaw.
- Known for its rich antebellum history and southern charm, the area surrounding Black Warrior Bay has many exciting events and destinations for land owners to enjoy. Just minutes away, you’ll find the picturesque town of Eutaw. With more than twenty five homes on the National Register of Historic Places -including Kirkwood Plantation, the town is loveliest on foot. A walking tour will also reveal Eutaw’s antique shops, fine dining and Civil War landmarks.
- One half hour away, the city of Tuscaloosa has a thriving art community known for its world famous entertainment (theatre, opera and film festivals) and venues.
- Every October one of the South’s most celebrated Arts and Crafts festivals comes to the town of Northport for the Kentuck Festival of The Arts. Over two hundred of the nation’s top artisans are featured at the event.
- Another destination worth visiting is the University of Alabama’s Moundville Archaeological Park, located 14 miles south of Tuscaloosa. The park celebrates the Southeastern Indian tribe with a museum, nature trails and the annual Moundville Native American Festival.
- In December, the Christmas Afloat water parade draws crowds along the banks of the Black Warrior River. Boats decorated with holiday lights and cheering spectators make for a memorable evening.
- The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, has a variety of spectator sports available throughout the year. There are also plenty of public parks around for an afternoon of softball, tennis, golf, hiking and more.
